Well..at least the poor guy got a kiss for sacrificing five spirit rings LOL. The rest of us are in a sugar induced coma with that sappy insert song playing on loop in our heads, unable to wake up.šŸ¤£

That aside...hats off to the animators. Now THAT'S the kind of power I want/expect to see from those 100k Spirit Rings/Bones. Wow.

Next ep has me worried though. The best comedic scene in the whole novel is on deck next week so I hope they do it justice! The fact that XW eyed TS's Trident...WTF? I'd love to see her try to pull it out of the ground next ep šŸ˜†

For those curious to know what happens, per the novel: TS, acting afraid, explains to their leader that he and XW are just beginner Spirit Masters who ran into a SALAMANDERšŸ¤£ and had to run for their lives, then got lost in Sunset Forest. When their Spirit Emperors drop their Spirit Rings, TS acts shocked and says "gosh I've never seen so many Spirit Rings, such power!" šŸ˜‚ Then he retreats a couple steps backward to catch his balance while XW is trying not to laugh her ass off. Leader then orders TS to release his spirit, but TS acts bashful, embarrassed at his "low" level. TS then asks the leader to hold his Trident because he has to summon spirit power in order to release his BSG spirit LOL. And that was the end of the SH hunting partyšŸ¤£.

Youtube Addict • 1 year ago

Fingers crossed they donā€™t ruin that comedic scene but now that the ā€œcon manā€ has been replaced, Iā€™m not so optimistic anymore!šŸ¤žšŸ„ŗ

P.S. for all we know XW might have been boosted so much that she might just perform some miracle there with the šŸ”±! LOL!!

Dase • 1 year ago

You forgot the leader's eyes was lusting after Xiao Wu as well lol

Dase • 1 year ago

On another note, Doupo Cangqiong weibo posted two videos of Xiao Yan and Xun'Er's character design. Not much change with Xiao Yan, slightly and I mean slightly older and some clothing changes. While Xun'Er looks a little less of a doll like the last time we saw her, also her clothing now matches what was written in the novel

Robert • 1 year ago

Did they make Xunā€™Er comparable to Medusa? Because tbh she looked kinda plain

Dase • 1 year ago

She looks like the when she was briefly show in the Three Year Agreement, I find that she looks less like a doll, but it is a very short video, but she doesnt look like Medusa lol

Robert • 1 year ago

What a shame, I meant comparable beauty wise like Yunzhi/YunYun, Ya Fei or even Nalan Yanran at this point. Then again I guess ā€˜beauty is in the eye of the beholderā€™ - she was sadly very much looking like as mob character imho.

douluo • 1 year ago

Who is Xun'Er? šŸ¤£šŸ¤£šŸ¤£

Dase • 1 year ago

A character that Xiao Wu should have been, useful, helpful, can carry her own weight without the help of the main character :P

Pha Yang • 1 year ago

Xiaowu was never supposed to be useful/helpful, aka trophy wife just like every other FMC from tjss tang wutong, gu yue, and bai xiuxiu. Too bad nalan yeran and yunzhi we're basically side characters after the 3 years battle schedule.

Dase • 1 year ago

mhm oh well thanks to vio I can confirm 31 Jul is when season 5 will come out

OfficialDrixMalone • 1 year ago

Oh man, I've been up for 33 hours now and less worried about censoring myself in my last post, hope no one takes offense to it, just was joking around a little, I'll probably embarrass myself and palm my face šŸ¤¦šŸ¾ā€ā™‚ļø when I reread what I said after some sleep aha. But I do have a serious question, do asian culture have certain rules or beliefs about being intimate (sexual relations) with someone before marriage?? I seen a lot of k-dramas, watched a lot of donghua/anime and read a lot of manga/manhwa/etc...and the women/girls are pretty stern and act "pure/innocent" to the point where even the guy just seeing them in night clothes/pajamas or whatever is beneath their regular wrappings is a big deal. Such a big issue that they say a lot about the guys "taking responsibility" for seeing them in their private bed clothes (undergarments) or just simple shorts and tank top type attire.

It's quite confusing as they're literally still pretty much clothed, though even if their shoulders are bare and their back or stomach or sometimes thighs are exposed then they get beyond angry and embarrassed. Americans would think she was being over dramatic and acting crazy when it's not like her nether regions nor other private parts are exposed. Is it just for comedic purposes or is this a real life cultural thing being practiced in modern times?? Even more confusing is because they wear bikinis and other articles of clothing that expose much more than the former, leaving not much to the imagination. But turn into dere personality when a guy sees just her bare shoulders lol. So could you please help me understand this and if it's being overdramatized or not, I'd really appreciate it.

douluo • 1 year ago

Yeah I've seen a lot of that in drama/anime too LOL. I can count on one hand the number of actual/passionate skinship scenes in Asian mediašŸ˜‚

I think it's a combo of comedic schtick and very conservative views on relationships/sex, especially Japanese stuff. As to pre-marital sex, my guess is that it's probably still largely discouraged but increasingly ignored behind closed doors, esp in the last couple decades..

Ahh welcome to donghuas, you are the second person to create an account just to ask that question in less than 2 days lol

Similar to Soul Land, that is hard to answer since a lot of donghua follows similar plot devices, Soul Land happens to use a different type of system in order to level, what I can do is to recommend donghuas that are popular in China. There is no official Soul Land translated, only some guy who took the works of a translator and is selling the translator's works on kindle.

So save your money and read the novel on wuxiaworld. It is purely text, you can read the manhua (manga) of it if you want, but like ALL manhuas in China , they are mostly targeted towards younger readers as such a lot of mature themes and contents are cut, removed or changed. You can find both in a lot of other sites, just by googling the words Soul Land, manga and webnovel, I cant link them since this site will autotag my post as spam and delete it automatically

Anyway the list
Fanren Xiu Xian Chuan (probably considered the most realistic animated series using motion capture, very popular)
Juan Siliang
Shen Yin Wangzuo (Same author as Soul Land)

Doupo Cangqiong (need to ignore the old CGI for season 1, season 5 is about to be release on the 31st July )
Wudong Qiankun (same author as Doupo Cangqiong, season 3 started a few weeks ago)
Wu Geng Ji (need to ignore the old CGI in season 1 and 2)
Wanmei Shijie
Stellar Transformation (same author as Swallowed Star)
Xue Ying Ling Zhu (same author as Swallowed Star)
Zi Chuan
Dragon's Disciple
Yong Shen
The King's Avatar (2d/3d animation, one of the donghuas that started people getting hooked into Chinese animations)
Mo Dao Zhu Shi (Implied boylove bits, but it is hardly noticable, 2d animation)

There are plenty more, but I shall leave it to others to make some suggestions :) Enjoy your journey into the world of donghuas

Welcome to the club! Iā€™m glad Dase has already given you a very comprehensive list. You canā€™t find a more reliable source than Dase.
Iā€™m not sure how familiar you are with wuxiaworld. What I like about Wuxiaworld is the active and (mostly) constructive fan base and part of the enjoyment of reading a novel online is the feedback/comments from fellow readers. I canā€™t remember if you would have to pay to read DD/Soul Land. Usually the earlier chapters are for free before they start charging. You can choose to subscribe or to collect ā€œkarmaā€ or points by being an active commenter.
Another alternative is to go to the website ā€œbluesilvertranslationsā€, thatā€™s the very first translator of DD (I prefer to call the novel, DD to differentiate it from the donghua). They are the very first translators and many other websites blatantly took their translations without giving them credits, although I believe Wuxiaworld retranslated that without taking the one from bluesilvertranslations. The terms they use are slightly different. That might take a bit of getting used to, especially when you compare that with the English subs used here.
Iā€™m not sure what exactly draws you to Soul Land. Some people like a smart and OP MC like Tang San as well as some cool team fights and adventures. Of course thereā€™re also those who fancy the ā€œSanWuā€ love story. If you like the former, Iā€™d add a few more to Daseā€™s list:
- Legend of Exorcism (BL but great team spirit like the Shrek Devils)
- Dinghai Fusheng Lu (also BL)
- The Great Journey of Teenagers (S1 is the best and then it slowly goes downhill in S2)
I think Dase has already mentioned, ā€œJuan Siliangā€ is more of a classic love story type of donghua with excellent animation but slow pacing.
Oh, thereā€™s also ā€œMirror Twin Citiesā€ (fantasy based with a bit of everything in between).
But my personal favourite is Fanren Xiu Xian Chuan. Give it a bit of patience and youā€™ll be immensely rewarded. Meanwhile enjoy the list from Dase! You can find almost everything here on Gogoanime. šŸ˜‰

Youtube Addict • 1 year ago

Damn, I think Iā€™m developing some kind of sugar intolerance. Need to stay off sickly sweet sugary products. šŸ˜‰

Btw, Iā€™m beginning to see why the Chinese fans were calling the production team the biggest lackeys of Martial Soul Hall. At first I thought they were just shallow and stubborn and imo the additions of screen time for Bibidong & Co. were served to patch up plot holes and to further character development. But now, Iā€™m starting to loath seeing unnecessary scenes/plots being added. As much as I like Hu Liena, I canā€™t stand the sight of her brother and Yan. And definitely not their creepy soul fusion. šŸ„“

After watching the preview for next week, Iā€™m afraid TS is nerfed once again, losing not only (part of) his badassery and charm but also some of his playfulness and wittiness. Iā€™m sure those who have read the novel would know what Iā€™m referring to.The sly foxy TS is gone and is replaced by a trickster bunny. I can only hope that the trailer is trolling us again. šŸ˜•

douluo • 1 year ago

Yeah the added SH antagonist scenes aren't adding anything. I guess the purpose is to make the Golden Generation more formidable final opponents, which is fine...as long as they have NO HOPE of catching any member of Shrek's current level, let alone their final. As I recall, it was only Hu Liena that made it to Spirit Sage LOL so what they're portraying is already radically inaccurate. But whatever lol.

Dase • 1 year ago

Did they skip reviving his mother?
And yes, why show more of Yan?? Why?? Also it seems the studio is making Xiao Wu useful with a team from Martial Spirit Hall coming, although it looks like some changes are made *sigh* so much for the mischievous side of Tang San which we might not see

Fuboulo • 1 year ago

they didnt skip it. it is still yet to happen (it was also the same in the novel)

Dase • 1 year ago

I thought so, with the changes they made I wasnt sure if they were still following the novel or shifting events around lol since he revived his mother and she goes into a cocoon state before he goes out hunting for rings

The-Fallen-Light-Demon • 1 year ago

They follow novel, Tang San hunt Soul beast for two months and comeback to his mother and Resurrected her then go to Haotian sect

Dase • 1 year ago

No... chapter 265 Xiao Wu is resurrected, chapter 266 he starts reviving his mother, she goes into a cocoon state, it took a month for Tang San to recover and then they go out to hunt for rings while his father guards his mother Chapter 267 is being covered by next episode where the Martial Spirit Hall people comes, chapter 268 which is 3 days later his mother awakens from her cocoon state

Youtube Addict • 1 year ago

Youā€™re right! I was also confused when I first watched it but then I thought maybe I remembered the sequences wrongly. They better not skip that, or there will be šŸ¤¬ LOL!

Actually I care more for thereturn to HaoTian clan arc! They better not nerf TS in that one!

Dase • 1 year ago

lol I forced myself to watch today's and last week's episode and thought wait a minute, he recovered and rushed off to hunt rings?? What happened to his reviving his mother? they showed her but he didnt start reviving her this is why I asked in case it wasnt in the last two episodes but the ones before that lol

Yeah that one is going to be interesting especially when he demands his father's return to the sect's family roll (family tree lineage) and the spirit bones, also the fight between all the elders and Tang San lol

Oahn • 1 year ago

On the bright side it is actually back to full length

Exo • 1 year ago

Brother, I love you. That doesn't sound right. Is the translation wrong or the Chinese really call their boyfriend as brother?

Raven Shue • 1 year ago

nope, coz if you watch, Xiao Wu calls him ā€œå“„ā€ which is Brother, but many chinese call their BFs that as a nickname, it sounds inscest but it isnt lol

Exo • 1 year ago

So calling the bf as brother is indeed common. Are there no misunderstandings here to those who might think that they are really blood relatives because the couple is calling each other as brother and sister? Imagine seeing two people calling each other brother and sister and then they are holding hands and kissing.

vio • 1 year ago

To people who have watched this from the very first episode there really shouldn't be any misunderstandings. I was curious about this a while back especially with how Chinese family households were formed with even men of those families calling each other brothers even though they were not related by blood or marriage. That wasn't related to incest or the women of those families being baby factories pumping out as many as they could.

In regard to people calling each other brother and sister and either kissing or holding hands, I cant really say it's just the perspective of westerners that see it that way. The reason for that is because there are some who have formed their own little families online through playing mmo's and carry it into the real world. Who knows how far they've gone?

Dase • 1 year ago

mhm you are correct, it's mostly a Western perspective, in ancient Chinese culture it is normal to call friends "elder brother" or "elder sister", while you dont see much of that in modern day China, it does happen, and is often used in Chinese TV dramas.

Koreans would use oppa for older male, and noona for older female, think there the Japanese do have them but I cant remember, not sure if it is aniki or aneki, although that is more in line with a form of respect,, and in gangs, though not always. The Chinese and Korean ones of a close relationship reference. Another example is that I call my parent's friends uncle or aunty even though we are not related by any means, and we dont call our elder siblings by their name, and we definitely do not call out parent in laws by their names either

Asian cultures, do place an emphasis on the status of people's relationship, it is very complicated to say the least, but it forms the general idea of respect, so there's different terms we use to call elder siblings, friends and family by not using their actual names.

vio • 1 year ago

I'm actually surprised that people go straight to the idea that incest is involved where that is concerned. I could mention one of my thoughts on that but not only would it make people cringe, it would also make men look bad even though there are some faithful ones out there.

OfficialDrixMalone • 1 year ago

I'm curious to what you had in mind now, go on sir, don't censor yourself just because some might think it's "cringe." And not saying it now is even worse than the "cringe," like starting to give a dollar to someone but then midway changing your mind and taking it back lmao.

So please, continue šŸ«±šŸ½...

vio • 1 year ago

dont say I didnt warn you..
As you know some guys cant keep it in their pants and even make excuses about using protection so they can go bareback. This leaves open the possibility of having kids that even they dont know about due to one night stands and lack of contact afterwards. Some of them may also have kids of their own so when they eventually grow up there is a chance that those kids may still hook up even without knowledge of having the same father. It's also possible for women to do similar but there is a much higher chance of men doing that.

OfficialDrixMalone • 1 year ago

Now to the 2nd part, I actually just saw a video off this young lady and guy who were responding to repeated "TikTok" comments about looking so much alike. Well she was explaining why they looked alike and it turns out that they WERE related, not just relatives but they recently found out they were dating and screwing their half sibling!! That's not even the worst part, she topped it off by saying "yeah we know we're related now but we don't give af because we're in love, so yes we're siblings and are in a relationship and plan on CONTINUING OUR RELATIONSHIP." How she was still going to F her brother with him in agreement, then proceeds to grab his chin turning his face towards hers and both going in for a kiss and literally makes out (probably with tongue) until the video ends a couple seconds later smh!! Yeah that's some crazy stuff man, and supposedly cases like these actually happen more often than we think, but admit knowing they're blood family,

Now I empathize and understand how f'd up being in a position like that would be, couldn't imagine such a predicament of bad luck. Having to accept you've been raw dogging your brother/your sister is one thing, though still one hell of a mind f*ck to conceptualize and process. But I didn't expect them to decide to continue this accidental incestious relationship, being willing participants is absolute nuts to me. To also publicly announce it to the WORLD without shame or guilt (like it's freaking anime lmao) as if it's 100% normal. It's not just wrong because society considers it wrong, it's not because culture dictates it immoral, but because our own genes, our own blood becomes poisonous, our bodies determined it's wrong, without our thoughts or beliefs. It already biologically decided for us that blood family having sexual relations is incorrect and leads to terrible results. Life reminds us it's a no no, not a line to be crossed or suffer severe consequences, which is most the time the children that suffer (more again). They're innocent victims of irresponsible individuals who make bad decisions and are "cursed" with mental and physical deformities and/or early death, poor health, etc. So the child has to reap the parents sins, as a part of the "damned" by default and that's f'd up and selfish, they have to be mentally ill to even want a future like that for a child smh.

OfficialDrixMalone • 1 year ago

Lol oh man this was pretty tamed honestly, but you're 100% right. Though before I respond to the accidental incest, I do want to point out that just as the men who can't keep it in their pants nor use condoms, that there's also the women who ALLOW that same man access to her body and chooses to have sex raw as well and just as irresponsible (if not more) if she gets pregnant. Women control sex most of the time (obviously not including r@pe), so having a one night stand with a possible deadbeat falls on her more (he should take responsibility too though). It's unfortunate for the single parent child and they suffer way more I believe, when they're born from the union of two irresponsible parents smh. But I'm curious who would you blame the most??

vio • 1 year ago

Thats kind of a difficult question for me cos it's hard without knowing what they are like personally and if they suffer from extreme sexual urges. If one of them suffered from that then I'd say that person was to blame because they should do better to keep it in check. If the woman is a bit slow and easily manipulated then the guy is at fault but besides that I would say the woman.

I remember there was a movie I watched a while ago but I cant remember the title of it which was about students at a college who pulled a prank. They organised for two people to hook up in a car park but they were under the stipulation that they were not allowed to take the paper bags off of their heads until it was over. After they finished the bags were removed and they puked because it turned out they were actually brother and sister who had been set up.

Dase • 1 year ago

Some people's minds are very imaginative than others, imagine if they went to some of the Asian countries and start seeing girls holding hands with friends whether they are sisters or just friends and it is just because they dont see it as gay I have seen guys holding hands as well, though you dont see that often now lol

Also women using umbrellas when there is no rain to block off the sun lol it all stems from different cultural perceptions

vio • 1 year ago

the umbrella thing I can understand as they were used where I am but they were called parasols and there were even ones made for baby prams too. Men holding hands is just..... not manly.... I remember when I went uni, there were male twins who hugged other men as a greeting or goodbye... They attempted to do it to me but I stopped it and they never tried again thankfully. I got no problem with other guys doing that but I prefer female hugs better as nothing beats a comfy body and enticing scent. :)

OfficialDrixMalone • 1 year ago

Hmm yeah I remember when I first started paying attention to such differences and wondering what I got myself into, thinking some weird stuff was going on or about to ahaha. But slowly started to understand, especially from a few asians years back that was kind enough to explain a lot of it to me, their culture and other things. I was particularly confused on referring to their spouses/partner/lover/etc...as if they're siblings when not related and actually sexually involved. Even deeper pass that, greeting other non relatives more familiar, the differences in different asian groups, which I'm still learning more and more all the time. I still get caught off guard by things I already knew sometimes and surprised by other things unknown to me. It is a lot to remember, especially when like you pointed out, the complications because of the cultural differences amongst the many asiatic groups. I'll never understand the calling the opposite gender the wrong pronoun though lol, that happens so many times and I'm still not used to it lol.

Anyway, I love the differences in cultures around the world, even though some may have some weird/quirks about them that people of opposite cultures wouldn't particularly subscribe too or understand, I can appreciate the many different cultures around the world. And actually some of the particular things people of other cultures follow can be even better than some of the things in our own cultures, where you connect/vibe with particular things in the specific culture more. Especially if some give you better ways to live, or fit your personality/character/spirit/etc...more, that fits perfectly in place, or gives you certain discipline that your culture doesn't have or lacks in. One thing I've picked up on from Japanese culture (it may be asians as a whole I'm not sure) and made a habit of is covering your mouth while you talk when enjoying food with others. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I've seen that done in anime and real life and I just thought it's way more respectful and considerate plus sanitary. And another one is using houseshoes while in the house as much as I can, and trying to stop walking in the entirety of the house in your outside shoes (as for obvious reasons).

Sometimes I take what I think suits me from other cultures (if it's bettering one or more aspects of my life, thoughts, etc...) and try to apply in my life as much as possible to not only benefit myself, but also possibly those around me that can be changed and affected positively. Being used as an example just from one person in your life directly or indirectly and helping them become better versions of themselves, rather you know it or not is pretty dope. Living your life and hopefully others can see positive results and better ways of living that they could reap benefits from. Rubbing off on family, friends, etc...positively and actively changing their lives, rather big or small for the better, possibly infecting them with good energy and they could benefit just from your changes that they've seen. But most of the time, I think those things should make you feel good, practicing these things should feel natural and just logically makes more sense and benefits you more than other ways, as you should always want to progress/upgrade yourself in whatever categories. Sometimes it's tough sticking to certain things so not everything will be easy or even feel "good," for example like eating healthy, it's a constant battle on different levels smh. So things come natural and some don't, but I wrote too much again, so I'ma cut myself off now šŸ˜‚.

I'm sorry, I just saw this comment, but I appreciate that you thought to include me in the update, even though I actually found out in "Wu Dong Qian Kun" from your comment mentioning that Vio reminded you aha.

I'm pretty sure everyone else and myself definitely appreciates y'all contributions to this side of the Gogo field or train tracks or neglected donghua part of town. Maybe a small community right now, but it's better than on the other side in my opinion, though I partake in both sides. You guys are the doing the anime/donghua deities work lol!!

Dase • 1 year ago

lol it is fine, dont worry about it and thank you for your kind words

I just like to promote donghua or provide information when I can to people who are interested, as we all know not everyone reads everything lol so you will find that I will post updates on a couple of new episode releases just in case people didnt read it or they are interested in another donghua instead of the one I posted in lol

Animes doesnt need promotion since they have a bigger fanbase, and God knows who you will offend if you try to post anything informative or helpful over there, people are more sensitive there than here. For the most part the donghua community are pretty nice and chill, though you get some wannabe trolls throwing shade here and there, I just block them :) I guess some people just dont like seeing my million posts no matter what the contents are, but it's their choice just as it is my choice to block them lol
